Abdominal tuberculosis in patients with acute abdomen: an observational single centre study

Background: Abdominal tuberculosis tends to present with nonspecific features and can be hard diagnose. mimic a variety of other abdominal conditions only high degree suspicion help in the diagnosis, otherwise, it is likely missed or delayed resulting morbidity mortality. Therefore, index suspicion, fortified general awareness knowledge this form disease essential. Methods: A careful history taking, thorough clinical examination was carried out each case. All patients were investigated. Some needed surgical intervention. For who responded favorably conservative management did not require surgery, diagnostic studies confirm presence tuberculosis. Results: constituted significant percentage (23.6%) all cases attending emergency an acute abdomen. Ultrasound CECT show various findings which suggestive tuberculosis, but there no difference PPV ultrasound Colonoscopy has 55.6% diagnosis Gene Xpert significantly better than AFB staining diagnosing ascitic fluid examination. Conclusions: Good clinicopathological workup results earlier prompt curable disease. final made after histopathological examination/with gene report.
